Disabling Gravatar

[ad_1]

First of all, hello to everyone out there. I’m in the midst of putting a blog together that will focus on privacy and information security topics. Upon auditing the site, I found that an outbound connection is made to “[secure.gravatar.com](https://secure.gravatar.com)”. Given the nature of the site, I’d like to eliminate this. I’ve searched the web at large and found a few plugins and possible solutions, none of which currently work as intended. I understand that the “feature” is essentially baked into the WordPress code base so completely eliminating it might not be possible but perhaps there’s a way to disable it completely. Perhaps there’s something I could add to my functions.php (filter maybe)? Unfortunately, I’m not proficient in PHP. Are there any solutions out there? I’m willing to hire a dev if there’s not one currently available. Any suggestions?
