I am using categories to group posts by topic. I like how the URL is setup and reliably groups the URL structure.
I am not fond of the category page being so… category. I’d like to be more post/page where I can speak on the topic of the category. I’d set it up like a listicle of the posts within.
Is there a way to “edit” the page that is the category? To make Category A different from Category B.
What I’m looking for is something akin to how a page can become your homepage.
Is there a plugin to drop Page content into a Category URL? I saw tons of plugins to put category info on a page, so this seems to be a hacky workaround, but I like keeping the URL structure I have now with the category slugs as URL folders.
As a visual, if I request to load up [example.com/categoryA](https://example.com/categoryA)… I would love to see [example.com/pageCatA](https://example.com/pageCatA) get loaded up where I would have page level control over linking to the posts at example.com/categoryA/article123

You can always just build your own category page – either as a page in WP (and redirect the wp category url to it), or by creating your own category-specific template eg category-dogs.php
