For the first time, I’m trying to learn to do a manual migration of my live WordPress site to LOCAL as my local host. Tried various plugins to do that, but my file size is too big so they all want to charge me for their premium migration product. Anyway, I’ve manually downloaded the files and database from my live site. When I try to import them into LOCAL, it asks for the old URL for the site and the new URL for the site on LOCAL. Does this mean LOCAL will change the URLs for me automatically, or do I still have to use a plug-in to do a search and replace of the URLs so everything works on the local host?
And if the latter is the case, I went to download Better Search Replace because it was often recommended on this sub. But apparently ownership of the plug-in changed and it gets some really bad recent reviews saying it’s got limited functionality now unless you buy the premium version. Is there a better free alternative to this plug-in to change the URLs?

You usually don’t use a ‘real’ url on localhost just something like [http://localhost/](http://localhost/)
You can make a mock domain like blabla.test or whatever if you know how to set up DNS or if the localhost thing offers such functions (MAMP does).
You change the siteurl and homeurl in the wp_options table with PMA or change it in wp-config. You have to find solutions like this on google or you’ll never make it. Quit being lazy, we aren’t your personal search engine. Also quit listening to anyone who replies they are often more clueless than you or a rock.
