Do I need to pay for tons of plugins (and possibly a page builder) to make a good portfolio for freelancing?

For the moment I’m practicing making websites locally with free plugins. But free plugins aren’t sufficient to make a production-ready website so I need to learn how to use paid plugins (and possibly a page builder) to be ready to make real websites and to make a realistic portfolio. But contrary to a web host it’s pretty expensive when you add everything up. Do I really need to pay for all these plugins to make a portfolio and attract clients or am I missing something?

I would like your advice.

  1. So without sounding like a dick, your asking how to charge people for being a Web editor without knowing how to be a Web editor?
