I have a wordpress site hosted on DreamHost and it comes with a built-in web application firewall ([DreamHost WAF info page]). For a while I only had the [Limit Login Attempts]) plugin installed to prevent brute force protection. After doing some research I figured I’d install Wordfence since everyone seems to recommend it for security. I like the logging and live traffic tools, but do I really need another firewall if my Dreamhost plan already has it built in? I also have the [new Jetpack firewall]) setting enabled to.
I just don’t want unnecessary plugins or code that could possibly slow down my site, even though it’s scoring 98% on GTMetrix. I’m newish to web dev and only been using WP for 6 months.
