Do you think my domain name is too long?

[ad_1]

Im a new freelancer tryina setup my site, Ill be offering wordpress services and was thinking about calling my site [www.×××××××freelancer.com]). ×××××× would be replaced with my actual name but not including it for anoniminity purposes.

Do you think its too long? Google suggests its too long or hard to rememeber but I think its better than [www.×××××××webdesign.com]) or [www.×××××××websites.com]) and I prefer to be refered to as a freelancer as thats what I am and was about to buy it but google made me question it. Does it make that much of a difference?

  1. I’m no expert but I don’t think yourname-freelancer.com will rank well at all. You’d be in a sea of other name-freelancer domains its a competitive market.. I’d be inclined to use something people might search for OR something unrelated to what you do but something memorable..

  2. I wouldn’t worry about it. A short, memorable domain is nice but not necessary. And since you can safely assume most people are going to reach your site via a link, not read it off an ad or business card you can let go a bit.

Only thing I’d suggest in regards to long domains is to read it very carefully so as to ensure it does not combine to make unintended words. I’m looking at you, expertsexchange.com

  3. Think of card makers, funky pigeon, moonpig etc, they don’t need to be called moonpigcards or funkypigeoncards. You can create a nice brand this way too.
