I’ve been following this sub for a while but I’m way more active in the [WordPress.org support forums](https://wordpress.org/support/forums).
I’m kind of curious: do people who post questions here know about the official forums? Do they post here instead because Reddit is more convenient?
I’m not criticizing or judging and I don’t have an agenda, I’m just genuinely curious.

I use the support forums for individual plugins occasionally… but I don’t think I’ve ever posted anywhere else.
Sadly, most people here, and in the 20’ish WordPress help groups that I moderate on Facebook do not know about support or documentation, or even Google for that matter. Many many times it is pure laziness, but sadly it is mostly just not knowing how to get help. I know many people are not tech savvy and are trying to do things cheap for their business, but most are lacking common sense on how to get help. If your BMW car needs service, why would you take it to a local small town general mechanic. I would take it to a BMW specific shop. People come in here and say ” how do I change font color in Astra theme” but admit they have never checked Astra documentation. </vent>
I wish more people would post their plugin-specific issues there first – they should be your first port of call for issues relating to plugin, not this sub.
Half the people I see that post here don’t even appear to know how to use Google, so I doubt they’re using support forums…
The support forums are usually the most direct route to the developer, who can give you an informed answer. I’ll often check the forums when choosing a plugin to make sure that the developer is responsive.
