Does anybody else feel abandoned by Soflyy?

I’m really curious on who in the community has built using Oxygen Builder over the last few years.

The updates have been minor with practically no major features in the last year.

I was really impressed with what they achieved with Breakdance, but can’t help feeling that it was the Oxygen community who helped bring it to life through using their products and giving them a foundation for all of the short comings of Oxygen.

I recently saw that they want to start charging annually for Oxygen (Of course this only applies to new comers) and I can’t help but feel it’s bottom of the pile in terms of upcoming features, just presenting minor changes to uphold their guarantee of “lifetime updates”.

I remember raising a question to the Softlyy CEO when Breakdance was first announced and he seems to justify that the two builders are of a different purpose but Breakdance just seems like it has just built all the features the community wanted over the foundation of oxygen..

What’s your thoughts?

  1. Louis does not appreciate people claiming that Oxygen has been abandoned, and if he was here would link you to the changelog page that they recently set up. But I agree with you, although the pace of updates has improved, the scale of updates is pathetically minor. Really just small quality of life improvements.

This is why such a huge portion of the community has moved on. Bricks seems to have snatched the lion’s share, as it is probably the most similar product. By contrast, Bricks gets massive updates several times a year, has vastly superior community engagement, is built on a modern framework and pretty much all the popular Oxygen addons have been adapted for Bricks. BricksExtras, BricksUltimate, AutomaticCSS etc. are available and there are a surprising number of new addons that Oxygen never had.

Personally, I have been leaning more towards block-based Gutenberg development with GeneratePress, GenerateBlocks, Blockstudio and sometimes React and Tailwind since the demise of Oxygen set in. Not because I prefer these tools but because clients do. Also check out Pinegrow – from my limited time with it, it seems like a wonderful product.

I have zero interest in Breakdance. I have reduced trust in Soflyy for one, but also I just don’t dig the Elementor-but-better philosophy they have. I really don’t enjoy playing around with it, and I doubt my clients would.
