Does my plan for an artist portfolio website look good?

[ad_1]

Hello everyone,

I got tasked with essentially recreating [this]) artist/painter portfolio website while making it prettier/better/faster.

I looked up the performance metrics for the current website (built on wordpress), and it is as follows:

I personally have never done any website building/design. I have coded a bit, but I do not know any HTML/CSS.

My strategy is to use WordPress (unless someone says it’s not the best for this type of thing).

For the sake of the speed, I will use just the normal WordPress Gutenberg drag-and-drop editor. I think this will work? I am honestly not sure, but I am not ready to pay for things like Oxygen, and I am pretty sure the site is simple enough. The hardest things I see are a contact-me form, and a switch for language (french & English). Would someone let me know if this is possible with the Gutenberg editor?

Additionally, I will use the WP Fastest Cache for the speed. As for the images, I will optimize them before I upload them to the website. I think that is it, although please let me know if there is something else I should do.

How does my plan look? Anything I should change?

  1. [https://gtmetrix.com/reports/art-ninatescar.com/viZuzfMt/#waterfall]) – is showing 775ms wait time from the server – that’s huge, and should be under 100ms. That generally means your server is overloaded, and is commonly associated with cheap, shared hosting.
