Does WordPress have what I need?

[ad_1]

Hello all 🙂

For my Bachelor's Thesis I'm trying to develop a tool (could be website, mobil app, etc.) that needs to have some characteristics, and I need your help to know if WordPress is what I need or not.

The basic structure of the tool I want to design is: have a main page that gives information, but the main function needs to be that a user imput some data (via something like a form) and this user and others authorized users can access the data via their account. Bonus points if the data can be displayed in graphics, statistics, etc.

  • Account access (you identify yourself to access a dashboard with all your information)
  • User management (some users can access the information of others if they have the given permisions)
  • Database (users can input data, like answering a poll, and that data is stored and can be displayed)

That are the basics functions I really need. Also if you know if I need a paid subscription or I can do free tell me, or if you have any idea of any website / tool that could help me better.

Thanks!

  1. You can achieve all of the above with WordPress.

First you’ll need to make a website for which you’ll need a domain name and hosting. Since WordPress is free, the cost for domain name and hosting may vary.

I’d recommend using the Bluehost or Hostinger coupon code that you can get from WPBeginner (the largest free WordPress resource site). With their coupons, you can start this as low as $2.75 per month.

Next you’ll need to choose a theme. There are thousands of free themes. But if you want to go for a paid one, then check out Divi or SeedProd.

Divi is a ready-made theme with a drag and drop builder. It has starter themes as well.
SeedProd is a drag and drop website builder allowing you to use WordPress as a canvas and draw your own theme.

Both have different plans. You can choose whatever suits you.

Now the main part. Plugins. You’ll need a membership plugin like MemberPress. With this, you can achieve the features and more.

Feel free to throw more questions.

  2. You might want to check gravityforms and gravityview with wordpress for that. Easy data graphics
