I have heard many times something like: “oh, WordPress… nah that’s a mess, you should use something modern”.
But then, “something” modern isn’t necessarily easier, faster, or more secure. I can get complex stuff done with WP pretty fast. Define a custom post type, a few metaboxes, some functions attached to some hooks and boom…!
So I have taken a look into core, and it seems much cleaner than a few years ago. But I am not an expert in software architecture, so I would like to receive honest feedback about the current state of the WordPress architecture. Is it still “a mess”? Is it “badly coded” as people say?
Thanks!
