Hi all, I’ve decided to go with WordPress for a site idea I have, but I’m running into an issue with the domain. The domain I want to choose would be “word1-word2.blog” — the hyphen is important to me as the name would look strange without it. But for some reason, every time I enter the hyphenated name into the search bar\* it returns domains without the hyphen, for example: “word1word2.blog” or “word1word2.wordpress.com”
Any ideas on why this could be happening? As far as I know, hyphens are permitted in domain names. Also while I’m at it, what is the difference between an extension like .blog and the .wordpress.com extension? Is it generally recommended to have .wordpress embedded in your domain, or does it not matter? Thank you!
