Donation platforms VS stripe integrations

[ad_1]

Hey guys, so I’m currently working with a charity local to me and I’m curious if anyone else has come across something like this.

When I’ve investigated the fees this charity is paying towards their donation platform It seems like it would be far more cost effective to use something like stripe on their site. The processing fees are lower and there’s no annual membership fee to use it.

However Im just curious if there’s any real benefit to these charities by linking outwards to a third party donation service that I’m just not aware of before I bring this up to them.

For reference this charity is paying 1.9% +20p in fees with a £150 + £30 VAT yearly membership fee on top. My napkin math suggests they’d have to be taking more than £12.50 on each individual donation to beat the processing fees alone.

Hoping I’m not being entirely ignorant of something here.
