Download and run files

[ad_1]

This may be out of the scope of this group, but I’m stuck. I have a bat file that runs on all the new employee computers. I would like to store the bat file in the media library, then set up a page on our website for the new employee to download. I have to zip it since WordPress doesn’t allow Bat files.

Is there a way I can get a button on one of our pages so that when clicked, it can download the zip file, unzip it, and run the bat file inside?

  1. That can’t be done. Just upload the bat file to a custom directory in wp-content over sftp and share that URL.

But if your website is public and that bat file is sensitive I wouldn’t upload it at all and share it another way but that’s me.

  2. Maybe if your users were using ie 11.

Nowadays they block unsigned apps from running by default.

Since it’s an employee, wouldn’t the computer have to be setup to some extent anyway? Can’t you (it) place it in startup and have it run the checks and remove itself or have a basic script download (checksum check integrity) the latest version.
