WordPress newb here. I’m migrating my website away from Squarespace, and am trying out WordPress on Dreamhost. I installed it a few days ago and have done no actually page creation/editing yet. I logged in to my foobar.xyz/wp-admin page, and doing ANYTHING is extremely slow, even just navigating to a different menu option on the sidebar takes sometimes minutes. If the speed of just navigating through menus is this ridiculously slow, I’m dreading using the editor to actually make anything. This CAN’T be right… what do I need to do to troubleshoot and speed it up?

If you have not done anything at all to the WordPress install, then its just your hosting. Avoid budget hosts if you can – they have a habit of overloading their shared servers. Pay a little extra and it will make the world of difference.
