could someone help me to clarify a few details and maybe suggest a proper approach?
I am a complete newbie. It will be my first time creating a website. I want to purchase a theme from Envato market. Do developers of themes have access to my personal information if I purchase and use their theme? I saw comments from other buyers e.g. “Why I was banned” and the answer from the theme developer: “You can only use a theme for one website”. So they can track those who purchased the theme? And they can block, close and manipulate your website? I thought I will just purchase a theme and will be independent. So things do not work like that as I understood.

A theme developer can’t ban you from anything or do anything to your site remotely. Unless Envato banned them from their site?
What likely happened in the case you’re referring to is that someone tried to repeatedly use a licence on multiple sites and the developer’s license tracking system alerted them to it. When you apply a license to a site it needs to “phone home” to determine its validity.
A theme purchased from Themeforest can only be used on one domain. If you want to use the theme on another domain you need to buy another licence.
Play by the rules, read the license, and you won’t have a problem.
That person was banned either from the Envato websites or the developers website.
Sometimes, depending on the theme and its developers, when activating a theme is sends the domain of the website the theme is on and the website admin’s email address to the activation server. So theme devs can track the number of activations per license.
