Error 404, already tried many things

My website is showing error 404 in all pages, but I still have access to WP admin. I already tried to edit or recreate the htaccess file and already changed the permalinks. Also disabled plugins or themes. Still, nothing helped.

The curious thing is that, when I try to read the htaccess file, it's blank even after I edited it.

Any suggestion?

  1. The blank htaccess is why you’re getting these 404s.. You need to figure out how to edit that. If you can’t edit it, then WordPress can’t edit it either.

  2. You can try renaming .htaccess via SFTP to something like .htaccessBackup. Then go to your permalinks settings and re-save the settings to see if a new .htaccess file is generated. If it isn’t, it likely means that you do not have the proper write permissions.
