Error establishing database connection

I can do sudo su and then systemctl start mariadb and I can connect to my page. But it only stays up for a while until I get the error again. I am using AWS EC2. I also double check my wp-config.php file and everything is correct.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue? I did some research but nothing seems to work.

Also when it does work, it’s super slow at loading pages. So could the problem be plugins related or memory?
