ErrorException: “json_decode() expects parameter 1 to be string [2024 Edition]

It’s back.

When attempting to access an admin edit page, the following error appears (and has been showing up off and on for the last 2.5 years across several different sites).

Much like my original post, it occurs when WP_DEBUG is enabled and WP_ENVIRONMENT_TYPE set to either local or staging
