My sincere apologies for this issue.
The refactoring in version 9.8 included some code based on work I’ve done in one of my other plugins, No Nonsense, and because I happened to have that plugin installed on my test site, I did not catch the error.
Version 9.8.0.1 fixes the issue and will be available momentarily.
