I used to work for a small business web dev/agency. However, I was not an engineer, creator, editor, coder, whatever. I worked in sales, finance, and operations + people management. I have a relatively basic understanding of WordPress, WooCommerce, Elementor, Slider Revolution, Adobe, Semrush, Java, MailChimp, Stripe, Microsoft tools, Google My Business, Business Facebook, Qwilr, hosting, AI chat features, affiliate marketing, social media, advertising, media content, and more.
I want to take all of this knowledge and expand on it through resources from Reddit, YouTube, and elsewhere. My goal is to create a site with the following characteristics:
Multi-page to include About, Events Information (not a calendar), an extremely small Merchandise page, Gallery #1, Fun Facts/Random, History & Milestones, Blog, Contact Us (General), Contact Us (Business), Recommendations, Gallery #2 (vastly different from Gallery #1), FAQ, Information, and most importantly, a \~500-count, single-unit database that filters down units based on user inputs in a dynamic, repeatable, quiz-like function made up of about 20 questions. This database can ALSO be accessed immediately through three additional methods … a search function by name, an alphabetically-ordered library, and a manual filtering process similar to AutoTrader. When the user selects any of the filtered results provided to them, details and descriptions of that result is then shown, a brief explanation as to why that result was displayed, and affiliated links to external sites for purchases are given.

for additional reference: I’m certain that this should be a normal site. Not ecommerce. The \~500 units aren’t things that can be purchased online. That’s not what’s for sale. Those units are there for informational purposes and each unit will have affiliated links for accessories and add-ons. Many, but not all of the links will be shared across other units.
(Think of it as \~500 different types of buildings. You can’t buy houses, skyscrapers, airports, and bridges on the internet but you can buy shingles, carpet, windows, and doors. A skyscraper won’t have shingles. A house will have shingles. A bridge won’t have carpets or windows. A skyscraper needs a lot of windows. An airport will use plenty of windows and carpet.)
The service is free, doesn’t require creating an account to use, may or may not be available as an app (depends on demand), and is expected to generate revenue through ads, affiliate marketing, small merchandise sales, and possibly low-cost extras or subscription services. Another goal is to potentially build this site simply to sell it off.
My intention is to work on the project entirely on my own but potentially utilizing and paying others for support. I don’t want any employees. I would be appreciative of myself to complete it in a 6 to 9 month timeframe. As a novice, I’m aware that a lot can and inevitably will change during development.
Am I a dreamer? Can I succeed?
