fixing WordPress installation

[ad_1]

Hi,

I trust everyone is doing well today.

So, I’ve got a client that needs their website fixed because their previous developer somehow broke their site, I’m not sure of the specifics of how or what he did but he’s been “ghosting” them for the last two months. As far as I can tell he tried to restore the site and something went wrong, very wrong.

If I open the URL it does display the site but there’s nothing there besides a 404 error. In the softaculous software it says the WordPress installation is up to date but if I scan for a WordPress installation it comes back saying there is no WordPress installed. Its very strange.

I’ve also changed the password for the admin account via Myphp admin and that just does not let me sign into the WP dashboard either, and when trying to add a new user with administration privileges that also throws me an error and doesn’t add the new user either.

Has anyone ever seen something like this and if you have any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
