If you are referring to the speed at which the images in the single thumbnail gallery load as you scroll through them, this will usually depend on the image sizes/how optimized the images are. You can optimize the images added to a gallery, which will automatically improve the image and page load speed.
You can also go to the Edit page of the gallery and navigate to Advanced -> Lazy Loading and enable the Lazy loading option which can assist with this.
