Hi @synthubert, thanks for getting in touch and providing the insights. The google_api_connection_fail error message is not one we would usually associate with a records mismatch. We more commonly see this when there is an issue with your site connecting with IPv6.
Typically when IPv6 addresses are blocked, it is because your IP address falls within a specific range that includes users from regions where Google services are blocked. We do now have a solution for this.
Please can you follow the steps below:
- Download this mini-plugin, which allows Site Kit setup over IPv4 instead of IPv6
- Upload the plugin file on your site by going to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin
- Once installed, try setting up Site Kit again
