So I used a norwegian based webhost provider, and swapped to [One.com]) . I figured now later that I probably fucked up with not creating backup files of the site. I used FileZilla, but I have actually no idea with what I’m doing.
Do I have to start over with a new WordPress site or can the files be recovered somehow?
Beside copying your wp-content folder, you also need a copy of your database from your old provider. Without it you won’t be able to restore your website to one.com.
