Freelancing as a wordpress delevoper without design skills

[ad_1]

Hi Everyone,

I'm a programmer that consider getting into freelancing as a wordpress site builder but I don't have good design skills (CSS, Graphic design, typography, colors, etc..). Basically I'm not very good at making sites pretty.

However my coding skills can help building functionalities with dynamic data and I am comfortable with hosting, databases, etc..

Would you think there is a niche for me without getting good at making sites pretty?

What are examples of niches that don't need a very pretty site but need more functionality?

Would you pair up with someone good at design instead?

What is in your opinion the importance of design in marketing yourself as a freelancer?

What would you expect is "good enough" in terms of design skills?

Thank you for helping me understanding the world of wordpress better!

  1. I definitely recommend teaming up with a designer. Which has the added benefit of increasing your network to find work.

  2. You can get into freelancing without the design part, make sure to focus on your skills and take jobs accordingly

  3. You can see a lot of freelancers with good tech, but poor design skills and viceversa. It’s very visible on many websites.
    You have 2 options

    1. Learn design patterns and stick to them

    2. Team with a designer
