Frustrated with WordPress Development, Need Advice

[ad_1]

I’ve been working with WordPress for a few months now, and I have to admit that I’m feeling pretty frustrated with the whole process. I thought it would be a straightforward platform to develop on, but I’m finding it to be quite the opposite.

The learning curve is much steeper than I anticipated, and I’m starting to wonder if I’m better off exploring other platforms.

I’ve tried researching online, but I’m still struggling to find the best way to approach WordPress development without pulling my hair out. I’m hoping that some of you experienced WordPress developers out there can offer some advice or share your own experiences in overcoming these challenges.

One specific issue I’m facing is struggling with understanding how plugin development works:

There are so many functions, hooks, and filters available that I have no idea when to use them or even why I would use them. The WordPress Codex and online tutorials have helped , but I still find myself feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of options and best practices. I’m not sure how to start writing a plugin from scratch or how to determine which functions to use for my specific needs. Additionally, I’m struggling to understand how to properly structure my plugin’s code and how to ensure compatibility with other plugins and themes.

TL;DR: New to WordPress development and struggling with understanding plugin development, including when to use functions, hooks, and filters, as well as structuring and testing plugins. Seeking advice, resources, and suggestions for alternative platforms.
