Hi folks. Over the last 24 hours, maybe a bit more, my company’s website has been bombed with new user creations. However, curiously, most of the registrants are using Gmail accounts. Now this is totally harmless to the website as far as I can tell and I have reCaptcha and these new users are being approved, which is also curious as a email verification link is sent to the email. So is someone literally sitting at a computer on the other end clicking the links or do bots do that too?
So, is there a way to stop this issue? The reason I have a new user creation, is for when our clients register their kids for exams. It is a music school franchise system, so we have hundreds of people register before they can sign up for an exam. None of these new users can sign up for an exam as the deadline has passed for the spring exams, but no one has sent me an email begging to sign up for an exam either, which is what usually happens when someone forgets to sign their kid up.
Would like to make this stop.

Could very well be that the recaptcha is not active everywhere. Are all signup forms locked up?
No, this isn’t the work of a human, it’s a bot.
Why does your company’s website allow users to sign up? Is there a need for that? If not, turn off user account creation.
