Getting so much spam comments on my wordpress page

[ad_1]

Hi people,

I am getting every day basically 5-10 spam (sometimes more, sometimes less) comments on my website. I already set up a few keywords which should be forwarded to spam directly. But it is just super annoying because sometimes I even oversee a comment by a real person and I answer to the comment a week later.

How do you handle that on your website?

  1. I’ve had to revert to manual membership approval.

Users/bots register and WordPress sends a response email requesting them to reply to it confirming 2 details about themselves that are relevant to the topic of my site, when their reply is received I then Activate their membership.

Bots don’t reply at all and any account request that doesn’t respond with an email reply containing the relevant details gets deleted.

It’s a pain but I sometimes get over 100 registration requests per day, 6-12 of which will be genuine and the rest are bots/spammers.

  2. Look at adding a CAPTCHA to your comments. Should cut down on the amount of spam considerably.
