I’m trying to establish myself as a freelancer. I’ve already built a few sites but I need more I can show prospective clients. I want to build 3 new portfolio pieces, and I want to use the opportunity to help choose the workflow that’s best for me. Thus far I’ve kept things pretty simple, making the most out of what Gutenberg provides out of the box.
Builder hate disclaimer:
In a perfect world I wouldn’t use a builder. I love the idea of having fine-grain control over everything, using version control, etc… but time is money, and I don’t have much of it right now.
So with that said, I want to pick a few different approaches. Ideally they’ll be considerably different from one another, so I can get a taste of what I like and don’t like. Here’s some different ones I’ve dabbled in or am just generally aware of:
* Hello Elementor, Elementor Pro
* Astra, Spectra
* Kadence, Kadence Blocks
* GeneratePress, GenerateBlocks
* Neve, Otter Blocks
* Breakdance
* Blocksy
* Bricks
* Divi
The main things I’m looking for are fast project turnaround time and flexibility. Give me any and all of your feedback!
Bonus points if you can recommend three different projects that would round out a portfolio nicely (e. g. restaurant, e-commerce, law firm).
And even more bonus points for cheaper options. If I’m buying licenses I guess I can always just reuse them for actual clients’ sites… but I’d like to save a buck if possible.
