Hello,
I want to make a new filmmaking website. I have one with wix but im really considering going somewhere else. Mind you I have NO experience in website coding nor am i going to learn to dive into it since it just might take too much of my time.
Pretty much i want to know if i can go into wordpress, pay for the hosting, design a decent website with the drag and drop feature, and be good.
I saw something about certain things needs to be updated periodically, which i had no clue about. Is there anything I need to know or do if i decide to soley stay with wordpress?

If you don’t want to learn, then I’d suggest staying where you are now or hiring someone who would build and maintain the WordPress site for you.
Drag and drop is possible for some things, but you should have at least basic understanding of WordPress and have willingness to learn.
You need to keep the WordPress core, theme and plugins updated. It is very simple, but it must be done to keep the site secure. It is possible to automate it, at least to some extent.
I am a complete beginner who made a website from scratch last weekend. One thing that got me was, use [wordpress.org](http://wordpress.org) and not [wordpress.com](http://wordpress.com) . I messed up and started with the latter, which charges money for any useful features, and had to start over. The site is [xengineering.net](http://xengineering.net) if you want to check it out- nothing fancy, but this shows what can be done in 1 day by someone with zero coding of any kind.
I use WordPress for work, and Wix for my online reel/portfolio.
Wix’s support is non-existant, but I don’t know why you wouldn’t continue to use it if you’re already familiar with it? Is it the cost? It’s infinitely less work than putting something together from scratch on WP.
It does take minor technical understanding, but nothing that Google and ChatGPT can’t sort out. Plus later, if you want to learn PHP you can make your own plugins and enhance the customization of your theme. If you’re looking for some help I’d be willing to get something set up for you. Feel free to send me a PM and I can sort out a quote for ya, I wouldn’t ask much. Can also send you some examples of some custom solutions I’ve set up.
Do you need a dynamic back end? Web forms, comment etc? If not then there are other options other than WP. I am a web developer but it still took me two or three attempts to get up and going with WP since I had ideas of how it should work and it worked differently.
If you still want to get into WordPress then check out localwp.com to easily spin up one on your local PC or Mac.
Hey! Want to add me on discord? I can try and make the website for you for free, I’m still learning but I think I can do most requests. After I make it, I’ll give you all the files and teach you how to do it so you can continue to make the website yourself!

Also, it’d be super cool if you could provide me with any example websites that I can reference (anything you think you’d want YOUR website to look like)

Edit: I just read your post more thoroughly. I’d be happy to also update your website for you if you don’t hae the time to get into wordpress! I’d be happy to make a website for you.
I assume you’re a film maker or videographer?
If so I’m in the same profession and am making my own site with bricks….I’m about 4ish months into making my site.
Just got the home page roughly done today.
I’m off next week so I might be able to get it live in the next 7 days.
It’s a lot harder than it seems like it’ll be but I think it’s a good skill to learn.
You’re basically making an information factory.
It won’t be easy. But it will be fun if you have the time.
