Google Search Console Crashes My WordPress Site

[ad_1]

I have a WordPress site and, long story short, I had an issue maybe a year or so ago where the site had completely crashed and it took me awhile to get it back up and running. As a result, it looks like Google de-indexed the site.

I recently logged into Google Search Console to request that Google re-index it now that the site is back up and running. But I’m running into an odd issue: Every time I try to initiate a crawl of the site through Search Console, it crashes my site, and Google says it can’t index the site because it’s bringing up a 404 error. If I make any change to the site, it fixes the 404 error and brings the site back online.

Anyone have any idea why this could be happening?
