Google Site Kit for multiple clients

[ad_1]

Hello – I’m new to this so please be gentle haha!

I’m just starting to freelance as a web designer and I’m curious to what developers with many clients do regarding Google Site Kit.

Do you create a Google account for each client (which you keep full control of and don’t ever share with the client) and use that to set up their Site Kit?). I’m envisaging that the clients I work with will not want to log into WP at any point and look at the data themselves. Plus, if I have control I can offer that as a service.

Is there a downside to doing it this way that I’m not seeing?

The other option would be to use your own Google account but:

1) can you link one Google account up to do multiple Google Analytics 4 data tracking? I’ve read that you can have multiple websites on one Sit Kit account, but is that in the circumstance of all the websites being your own personal sites? Would linking a client’s site up to my email mess up my own website’s tracking data?!

2) what if I decide in the future not to continue with my business? I guess I’d have to change the email on the plugin for each client, rather than just sending them the log in details of the Google account I’d created for them…

Sorry if this is really basic – I’m in the position of not knowing what I don’t know and not being sure what I need to find out! I’ve Googled but can’t seem to land on a specific confident answer.

Please share your best practices, thank you 🙂

  1. I think that would be your best bet, individual accounts. I am interested to know the best practice.

  2. Hello there, german WordPress startup here!

First off i do not really recommend using Sitekit since they tend to generate quite a big load on your Backend with there data fetching.

Besides that i tend to do an main Account with your Domain Name like [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), where you manage all your Websites over Google Searche Console and Google Analytics, the good things it you got an good overview over all websites and can transfer them easily to your clients if needed, having seperatet EMails for everyone sounds pretty overkill for me!

TLDR: Use one Account. 1-> Yes. 2->Transfer the Property or delete it and they should create it again.

    I hope this helped!
