Hello everyone,
I got tasked with building a multi-vendor auction website using WordPress. I have an hosting provider setup and started a bit on it but I feel stuck. Are there any good guides for building a multi-vendor auction site? I have been on this project for two months without any major progress being made.
Thank you

If you don’t have idea to build auction marketplace, you should hire an expert instead
Hire a guru, job done
Sent you a dm
First question I would ask is why WordPress? I would put together all the requirements, goals and objectives and then choose the appropriate technology for the job.
If WordPress is the right CMS (if you even need a CMS) check out WooCommerce extensions that have capability for this (e.g. WC Vendor).
Also don’t forget about AI tools to help you build your own guide if none exists. Claude or ChatGPT will most certainly help you develop this.
Not sure why you’d take it on if you have no idea what you’re doing.
2 months is a long time too in regards to a project seeing no real progress.
I can take a look and advise if you want to send me the link?
Outsource the project and take on the project manager role.
And if you don’t have the budget to outsource then you’ve priced the job wrong and have a lot of learning in front of you.
If you don’t know how to do something, you need to hire someone to do it.
How do you get tasked to do something you don’t know?
I can help. DM me
You’ll have to outsource the work. Post on Upwork. Find a theme to use: https://themeforest.net/category/wordpress?term=auction%20theme
I’d suggest one with lots of positive reviews that integrates with Elementor. On UpWork mention the builder and theme in the post and vet people by who has actually built a site with it.
You’ll need to test the hell out of it because there’s a lot of little settings and configurations that get missed in the build.
Hit me up on DM’s. I recently made two multi vendors in WordPress, and can give you some tips/do it with you, or you can proxy the deal to me with some fee %.
Overall if you’re familiar with php you’ll be able to do it no problem after some consultation.
IMO it’s okay you took something you wasn’t sure you’re capable of doing. You’ll figure it out, and sometimes you can’t be picky. Just make sure that quality is there, even if it means smaller profits in this particular gig.
Man you really jumped out the gates with an incredibly complicated task. I would try as best as I can to find plugins that work, but also you need to acclimate yourself to WordPress code. I would try using local wp for development. Make sure you can make a basic plugin with short codes. I would try to use pre built tools to your advantage when possible to avoid excess work.
But honestly, I would try to bow out gracefully and say you need to hire a contractor to get this done like others say.
Chatgpt. Upload all the requirements, ask it to help you make this free or using the least amount of money. Ask it about custom plugins already on wordpress where you can download and get the job done. I heard of some but dont remember off the top of my head. If you need more advice hmu, free. Not trying to make business here.
is that like https://www.liveauctioneers.com/ ?
B2BKing plugin is good for this and marketplace style stuff. unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the auction aspect
