After wasting a day looking for other popular posts grids, I noticed on my page builder (WPBakery) that there was a guttenberg editor hidden away at the bottom of the modules.
So I swiched off my classic editor for five minutes to use the block editor, threw in the supplied shortcode from my old widget, and it all fired up straight away!
Good what you can do when there’s a bullet pressed against your head, innit?
