Gravity forms vs Writing all forms in code

Hi,
I am doing some work on a friend’s website, We are aiming to have a big user base later on.
I have been using Gravity for all the forms on the website but recently someone told me it is going to be a big headache later on with a bigger user base if I don’t implement all the forms with pure code.
My question is if it is true and what are the pros and cons of using Gravity for all the forms on a big website?
