Hi, I was thinking of purchasing Bricks Builder to build my first website, but I have decided it’s too much money to spend if I find it too challenging as a beginner. I’m now considering Gutenberg with one of the block plugins. I just wondered if Gutenberg would be the best free option, or if there are others I should consider?

If you’re a programmer or if you’re happy to use whatever designs, templates, and patterns come with the theme or plugins you choose then Gutenberg might work. The interface isn’t very friendly. It’s extremely frustrating if you’re more of a visual thinker / graphic designer than a programmer. But you get what you pay for and it *is* free (in dollars if not in time to learn.)

The free version is very good – I’ve used it to build a number of websites.

Gutenberg is good enough in my opinion. You can pair it up with a free FSE theme + a block plugin like Otter or Spectra and you can build a lot of things.
What site are you trying to build and for what?
Gutenberg is great if you know what you’re doing and it’s the future of WordPress.
Your alternatives will not outlive it.
