Gutenberg block border not showing up

[ad_1]

First of all, I am very new to WordPress, so I am not sure if I can explain this problem properly, or if I am on the right subreddit, and I am very sorry for that.

So the text editor on my website does not show the border of the blocks (the box shadow thing). I’d like for it to show up, so I know which block I am on right now.

I thought it was a theme or plugin conflict, but I am not sure if it is because I’ve tried to disable and change the theme. I tried to create a new WordPress on TasteWP, and it also does not show any border. So apparently, the border thing is not the default setting?

How do I make the border appear? I contributed to this website, whose blocks are always contained inside visible thin blue borders, and I want my website to be like that too.

I’ve tried the spotlight mode; it’s a pretty close alternative, but I think the blue thin border is better. I also have tried editing the padding on the sidebar setting thing, but the border still won’t show up.

  1. Upon further inspection, the blue border that I am talking about becomes visible when I hover on the move up/move down menu. Is it possible to always make it visible for the selected block?
