Hamburger menu – sub-menu item selection issue

I’ve created a simple website using wordpress, elementor, and the hello elementor theme. What I’m finding when viewing on mobile is that when I click a link to access a sub-menu item on the hamburger menu, I just get taken to that top level link. I’m unable to tap/select the sub-menu item page. Any settings regarding menu are default. What am I doing wrong here?

I want to be able to tap the drop down link, then tap the sub item link, and go to that page.

Any help is much appreciated.
