Handover documentation

[ad_1]

Currently helping a small non profit maintain their 13 year old WP site. First time using WP, so bit of a learning curve. I was brought on as a content editor, but quickly realised the site has many deficiencies and needs some updating and TLC. Drinking from fire hose, updating and adding features that really should have been there all along.

Anyway… that’s not the gist of my question. When I asked to see the handover documentation from the Developers to the Editors, they said there was none. No real guides on how to update/maintain users, pages, products, etc.

Is this normal? Are the non-technical users expected to just learn this organically? I’m an old-school developer from the <gasp> last century and handing over without a user guide would have been unimaginable.

If you do provide guides, to what level?
