Headless WordPress vs Sanity

[ad_1]

I’m launching a news website soon and need help deciding between Headless WordPress and Sanity.

I expect 1 million page views a month. WP Engine told me that the hosting would cost $400 a month. Sanity’s pricing is based on API requests, not page views. How much could the cost be on Sanity? My concern is that the pricing on Sanity will be much higher.

Some additional info:
– I will start with two editors
– We will publish around 500 articles a month
– We will use React for front-end and Node.js for backend

  1. If you are paying for 500 articles a month the price difference for the hosting should not be an issue, go with performance. WP Engine sucks for anything except plain vanilla wordpress imo, expect problems and lacking support resolutions.

  2. 1 million views/mo. and you are worried about $400/mo. hosting costs? I don’t really understand, what’s your business model?

  3. I’d say worry about it when you’re hitting close to 1/4 that amount of visits per month and scale up.

That’s a huge amount of hits per month and won’t happen even close to overnight. If you’re running a website that is monetised then $400 will be small change by that stage.
