A friend of mine asked me if I could build an e-commerce store for him because he knows that I have built websites in the past and I work as a UI/UX designer.
He will pay me a very small “thank you” fee for this, I would feel bad taking a lot of money from a friend.
I have built websites using WordPress with Elementor in the past, which was pretty much similar to using Figma, so it wasn’t really an issue.
The thing is, I never used Woocommerce before, and I am afraid I might not have enough time to learn, as he needs it done in 2 weeks.
The store will have around 70 products, the EU market (so that also includes my lack of knowledge about EU regulations in this), he needs automatic updates of product stock or at least a very easy way to do it manually, card payments, wants to be able to add new products easily and update existing ones, shipping options depending about the country and weight of the product, etc, etc.
This seems like a lot of stuff that I just know very little if anything at all about, but I am willing to learn, I want to know how to build these types of websites, and am willing to put as much time as necessary in the next 2 weeks to get it done properly but I am scared that it might not be enough.
1. What would be the total price for all plugins and tools, and any other costs that would be required to build a website like this (using Woo), if I were to tell him what he will have to pay besides paying me a small fee
2. Should I perhaps forget about using Woocommerce and just go with Shopify instead, I know it is a more expensive option for him, but if I can’t get it done using Woo, then it might be the only logical option
3. What would be a list of things I need to know and can follow in order to build this, I am lost, don’t even know where to begin
4. What should I know about EU regulations for this?
5. Should I maybe just buy a theme from Themeforest/similar and then redesign it to fit his needs?
