Help: I need my nav buttons to show what page is currently active.

[ad_1]

I’m currently working on an assignment for college. I’ve got it 99% complete, but one of the core criteria listed in the rubric is that the nav buttons show what page you are actively browsing.

Meaning, I need “Home” to be highlighted or underlined when I’m on the home page. Or “Cats” when I’m on the cats page, and so on.

Due to this being a simple project, I opted to use a simple template/theme named “Nook.”

For the life of me I cannot find where to add additional CSS code to this template, or to add this feature elsewhere in the style editor.

Other online guides I’ve viewed are for an older version of WP or show a button I don’t have when looking at the style editor.

Since this is the last thing my project needs before I can turn it in, I’d prefer to fix this problem instead of starting all over with a different builder. Can anybody point me in a good direction to add this functionality to my site?

  1. Right click > Inspect on the menu, in particular, the menu item of the page you’re currently looking at. Look at the CSS class name on the element, and its parent elements.

  2. Appearance -> customize -> additional css
    Or
    Appearance-> editor -> style.css
