Greetings everyone,
I am currently preparing to start my freelancing career as a web developer and I intend to rely on WordPress to "break" into the field. I know HTML, CSS, and Javascript (reasonably well) + I watched a Udemy course that taught me the very basics of WordPress.
Now, before I eventually get started freelancing with WordPress, I need to know several things….
- Do I need a portfolio to get started? Of course, I am planning to make a couple of WordPress websites (on my local machine) to practice, but do I need to have all of those websites hosted online for clients to see?
- Do I need to purchase the Elementor Pro license right from the start or the free version is enough in the beginning? I am only familiar with the free version of Elementor right now.
- When working with clients, who will need to buy the domain and hosting – myself or the client?
- Is it a better idea to work on the websites on my local server and then transfer them to the actual server once the domain and hosting are purchased or should I work directly on the actual server once I purchase everything from a provider?
- Eventually, I am planning to learn PHP as well, but is it necessary in the very beginning if I am not planning to make custom plugins and themes right at the start, but just regular websites for clients who need their presence online?
- Do I need to learn WooCommerce as well as a beginner?
Lots of questions, I know and I apologize…….but I would greatly appreciate any input on the given matters.
