Help on designing a wordpress page – Breaking up content with full width colors

[ad_1]

Hello all, I am playing around with some page design stuff. I am trying to figure out a way to layout a page where certain sections are broken apart by blocks of color.

The problem I’m running into is, the only way I’ve been able to do it is remove margins and paddings from .main or .body and then add a column (in gutenberg) with x background color.

But then as the parent div has no margins, everything, including P, buttons, etc that aren’t right in the middle of the page are against the sides of the screen.

Is there a simpler/common sense way to achieve this kind of layout?

  1. If I’m understanding you correctly, you should be able to add an empty full width box or container in between anything on the page and add color to the block. I’m pretty sure that’s what you are describing?

  2. Depends entirely on what tools (ie page builder?) you’re using to build your pages. Having a good grasp of css helps a lot.

  3. You could use negative margins, with same value as is the padding of the container. Might need overflow visible. But just Google “negative margins left and right” or something similar and that might help.
