I replaced the review star widget since the template used had expired widgets. The expired widget still shows up as boxes on the website although does not show on my end. Can anybody give me some advice on how to fix?

Does this mean that when you are logged into admin you do not see it? Might be a caching issue. Look around to see if you have any caching plugins in WordPress and if so, clear the cache.
