Help please: A footnote plugin that I’m using (Footnotes made easy) was removed from WordPress plugin store. Should I keep this plugin installed in my website? If not, how do I transform all my footnotes so that WordPress block editor would recognize them?

[ad_1]

All my footnotes were inserted inside double parentheses, like this: ((text for footnote)). The plugin “Footnotes made easy” identifies this and creates a footnote.

However, this plugin is now removed from store and won’t be updated anymore (word-fence plugin gives me an alert).

If I remove the “footnote made easy” plugin, what will happen to all the footnotes?

I’ve also noticed that recently WordPress block editor added an option to insert footnotes. Can I transform all the ((xxx)) footnotes somehow to a format that will be recognized by WordPress itself?

Thanks in advance

  1. Have you googled for alternatives? I’d try that first before doing anything rash.

See if you can export the content from the plugin. I haven’t ever used this particular one.

[Read up on the Footnotes Bloc](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/footnotes-block/)k before making any decisions.

I would also recommend looking into why WP removed it from their directory. When was it last updated?
