I recently started a blog and decided to pay for a domain. The domain is WebsiteName.studio. This domain is listed under the site settings and if I enter this address, it brings me to the blog.
However, when I’m actually on the site the url changes to WebsiteNamedotstudio.wordpress.com. It spells out the full domain name and adds “.wordpress.com.”
I’m sure I’m doing something dumb, but how do I get rid of this “secondary” URL? I thought the registered domain would be used automatically and exclusively. Thanks for any help.
Your domain is set as a forwarding domain. So when people type yourdomain.com it forwards to your wordpress.com account of yourdomain.wordpress.com.
Move your website off of WordPress.com and self-host your wordpress installation.
