I have access to the backend and have been messing with UX blocks for a little bit. So far so good. However, we want to rebrand out company and create a less convoluted and messy interface. These are big changes and I have no F-ing clue where to start, how to think or where to look for tutorials at my level. Beginner tutorials on YouTube are very repetitive and don’t contain the information I need, and intermediate tutorials completely overwhelm me.
I don’t really know where we are hosting and the online tools to check this give me errors, so I don’t know where to go from there…
Please help me in learning how to get this done!

Before you do anything backup your entire site.

I would recommend paying a real credible WP developer.
What’s your website URL?
Call the owner and repeat: “I am not qualified for this”
There was an episode of “this old house” once where Norm said, “hire a plumber”.
But it sounds like you want to tackle this problem yourself. That’s good.
If this redesign has to be done in a short amount of time, you are going to need to “ hire a plumber “ because you won’t be able to learn enough soon enough to do it without breaking important things. But if you have time and your boss’s hair isn’t on fire.. read on.
Can you make a staging copy of your site? It will be your site, except at https://staging.example.com/ instead of at https://www.example.com/ Do that. Ask your hosting service for help. It’s worth paying a dev a couple of hundred bucks to do this for you if you’re a complete newcomer.
Then, practice on the staging site. Start by making some straightforward updates. New products? A blog post or two from the CEO? Whatever. Do them on the staging site and convince yourself you know how to do it without busting up the styling. Then do it on the live site.
Next you’ll be learning about WordPress things like menus, categories, permalinks, and so forth. You’ll need to know that conceptual stuff to change the way information is laid out in your site, because it’s the way we describe and plan that stuff. Ask again when you get there.
That’s not enough information? Are you open to an outside contractor for a small monthly fee?
If you’re happy to, drop me a DM – no obligation
what’s a ux block?
Hey there. Feel free to DM me and I can answer any questions you have. No charge or anything like that. As someone who started just like you, I understand the feeling and your panic.
First things first, figuring out who the website host is. You can figure that out by using the following URL and pasting your company’s site URL into there: https://hostingchecker.com/
The company absolutely knows who’s hosting just by checking their mails and financial records to see who they’re paying every month or year..
