Hidden advertisements coded into html?? How do I find/edit/delete them?

[ad_1]

Im not code savvy, but have been tasked with solving an issue for my job – I figured this would be the best place to ask.

We have a wordpress site that apparently has hidden advertisement(s) in the source code. It doesnt appear on the page BUT does appear in the website’s “subheading”/description when posting the link on facebook and other socials. Though the text doesn’t show on the home page, it DOES show up when i inspect the page source as a series of <h>, <a> and <p>’s.

The advertisement(s) are all in malaysian, but we haven’t had anyone external make changes to the site since it was built in 2019, so we’re all pretty stumped on how this could happen. We’ve posted our link around several times, and this new, malaysian subheading/description has only popped up in the last week or two.

Ive looked all over the wordpress menu, and I can’t seem to find the html for the front page of our site – which is where this string of html is written.

Has this “hidden advertising” happened to anyone else? How can i go about fixing this? Thank you in advance!
